Survivor Sunday
I have performed the initial schedule for Sunday (It will be awhile for Saturday) and it looks like everybody will be home by dinner on Sunday.  The last game looks like 3:30

Also, New rule for the Tribal Council will be that the player is wait for the whistle of the referee before attempting the shot.  If the player does not wait and the shot is good, a re-kick will take place, if the shot is missed, it is missed no retake.  This replaces the FIFA rule of regardless if the shot is made or not, the kick is retaken basically benefiting the player who missed.  FIFA on this instance does not have common sense.

Because of more teams and an extra field, you veterans will notice more of a time gap between games.  I always felt Survivor Sunday should be minimal rest between games but we have to have a larger gap between games to account for the potential of more Tribal Councils.  Seems like we are getting more tie scores on Sunday and we feel that we might have the possibility of not getting all Tribal Councils in before the next game.

WAITLIST UPDATE
I am getting several requests to be placed on the waitlist and wanting to know what their chances are.  I really dont know what anybody chances are.  Several factors go into determining if a team is pulled off the waitlist.  Last year, I pulled 8 teams from the waitlist in different age brackets.  Waitlist opportunities goes in waves.  The first wave is happening know as brackets fill up and I approach my top ceiling number of teams entering.  I have room for 196 teams in the U-11 and above.  Currently I have 194 which I will pull 2 more teams.  The second wave happens around the middle of April when refunds are given at 100%  Teams will have to decide if they want to stay in or not.  A few will pull out which clears some openings.  Another time will be when we get done with scheduling and we see how many holes we have and evaluate whether we can add 2 teams or not.  Another time is right before tourney time when a team will back out.  S
So, opportunities come in different times and is hard to predict how they will play out.  Again, thanks for your interest in the Yak Attack.  We know that there are many tournaments to choose from and we are gratefull that you choose the Yak.

Update
Well we are down to the final teams coming in.  Currently I have 3 openings for a GU-9 bracket, 1 spot for a BU9 and looking for a BU-14 team.  Otherwise I am full in all other age brackets.  I am getting numerous requests from teams wanting to be on the waitlist so if there are some teams already accepted and dont think you can make it, then let me know so that we can get a team who wants in.  I will refund your money.
Many teams are surprised that it filled up so fast.  One the main reasons it filled so fast is that the teams who couldnt get in were one of the first teams to register this year.  This will happen again next year.
I wish we had a bigger park to accept more teams but as my kid would tell me "it is what it is"

SURVIVOR SUNDAY
Survivor Sunday is a special feature that this tournament offers that no other tournament has.  All teams, U-11 and above, play three games on Saturday.  Points are tallied and each team in the age bracket is awarded a seed number at the end of the day.  Sunday play is based on seeding where play is similar to the NCAA basketball tournament.  All teams play on Sunday.  Survivor Sunday simply means if you win, you play again. If you lose, your tournament play ends.  Before each game, we play the Survivor theme song then sound the buzzer and drop the ball.  Of course, the higher the seed, the easier the path.  Survivor Sunday is designed to play every other half hour which depending on the size of the bracket, you could end up playing an additional four games on Sunday.  If a game ends in a tie on Survivor Sunday, both teams go to Tribal Council where a shootout Yak Attack style occurs; a shootout against my hay bale goalie.

CODE FOUR UNIFORM CONTEST
Once again, Code Four Athletic Apparel Company is sponsoring a uniform contest.  This event is one of the trademarks of the Yak Attack.  Teams are encouraged to make their own uniforms for this event and many teams come to the event with some awesome looking and funny looking uniforms.  We parade all the teams across the main stage and introduce each team to the crowd.  Uniforms have to in good taste and three winners are awarded; Boys, Girls, and Grand Champion.  Each winning team wins a $200.00 gift certificate from Code Four Athletic Apparel Co.  Contest starts at 12:45 on Saturday.

YAK ATTACK FOOD SOUP DRIVE
Another unique feature of the Yak Attack is our Northwest Harvest Food Drive.  In years past we have had a food drive where teams bring in food and win a ride a limousine.  The past two years we have seen food donations plummet which might be caused by the economy, we don't know.  This year we will be doing it a little different.  We are asking each participant to bring 1 can of soup to the tournament.  This has the potential of gathering 1800 cans of soup which the food bank would be gratefull.
